Combined Vessel, Company, and Facility Security Officer Course (MARAD & USCG approved)

This 3 1/2-day course is designed to prepare company, vessel, and facility supervisory personnel to function effectively as a Company, Ship/Vessel, or (Port) Facility Security Officer. The course provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as a Security Officer and fully meets the training requirements established both in the MTSA implementing regulations, sections 104.210, 104.215, 105.205, 106.205, and 106.210 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, and in ISPS Code sections B13.1, B13.2, and B18.1.

The course offers a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, accurate regulatory provisions, and risk-based assessment techniques, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment. It also includes detailed training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations. Our experience has shown that the interaction among attendees from different segments of the maritime industry increases the instructional benefit of this course compared to courses focused on one type of Security Officer.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a USCG/MARAD approved certificate that meets STCW requirements. They will also be awarded 2.8 Continuing Education Units by the Florida Institute of Technology.

Combined Company and Ship Security Officer Course (MCA approved)

This four-day course (three days for those seeking only SSO certification) is designed to prepare company and ship supervisory personnel to function effectively as a Company or Ship Security Officer. The course provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as a Security Officer and fully meets the training requirements established in ISPS Code sections B13.1, and B13.2.

The course offers a blend of up-do-date threat information, effective security practices, accurate regulatory provisions (including information on US Regulations), and risk-based assessment techniques, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment.

Those who successfully completed the course will receive an MCA approved certificate that meets STCW requirements in the case of SSO candidates. They will also be awarded 2.8 (CSO/SSO candidates) or 2.1 (SSO candidates) Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

Company Security Officer Course (MARAD approved)

This three-day course is designed to prepare company supervisory personnel to function effectively as a Company Security Officer. The course provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as a Company Security Officer and fully meets the training requirements established both in the MTSA implementing regulations, sections 104.210, and 106.205 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, and in section B13.1, of the ISPS Code.

The course offers a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, accurate regulatory provisions, and risk-based assessment techniques, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment. It includes detailed training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a MARAD approved certificate. They will also be awarded 2.1 Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

Company Security Officer Course (MCA approved)

This four-day course is designed to prepare company supervisory personnel to function effectively as a Company Security Officer. The course provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as a Company Security Officer and fully meets the training requirements in section B13.1 of the ISPS Code.

The Course offers a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, accurate regulatory provisions (including information on US Regulations), and risk-based assessment techniques, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises and knowledge assessment.

Those who successfully complete the course will received an MCA approved certificate. They will also be awarded 2.8 Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

Vessel Security Officer Course (USCG approved)
Ship Security Officer Course
(MCA approved)

These three-day courses are designed to prepare Mariners to function effectively as Vessel/Ship Security Officer. The courses provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as a Vessel/Ship Security Officer and fully meets the training requirements established both in the MTSA implementation regulations, section 104.215 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, and in section B13.2 of the ISPS Code.

The courses offer a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, accurate regulatory provisions, and risk-based assessment techniques, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment. The US course includes detailed training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive, as appropriate, a USCG or MCA approved certificate that meets STCW requirements. They will also be awarded 2.1 Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

Facility Security Officer Course (MARAD approved)
Port Facility Security Officer Course (TRANSEC approved)

These three-day courses are designed to prepare port and facility supervisory personnel to function effectively as a (Port) Facility Security Officer. The courses provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as a (Port) Facility Security Officer and fully meet the training requirements established both in the MTSA implementing regulations, sections 105.205 and 106.210 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, and in section B18.1 of the ISPS Code.

The courses officer a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, accurate regulatory provisions, and risk-based assessment techniques, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment. The US course includes detailed training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive, as appropriate, a MARAD or TRANSEC approved certificate. They will also be awarded 2.1 Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

Maritime Security Course for Vessel Personnel with Specific Security Duties  (based on MTSA model course 04-01)
Maritime Security Course for Facility Personnel with Specific Security Duties (based on MTSA model course 04-02)

These one-day courses are designed to prepare vessel and facility security personnel to carry out their security duties effectively. The courses provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills and fully meet the training requirements established both in the MTSA implementing regulations, section 104.220, section 105.210, or section 106.215 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, and in section B13.3 or section B18.2 of the ISPS Code.

The courses offer a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, and accurate regulatory provisions, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment. The courses include relevant training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion. They will also be awarded .8 Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

NOTE: These courses can be customized for a client's vessel, fleet, or facility by incorporating aspects of your operations and your security plan. These courses are also particularly effective when conducted in conjunction with a drill or "hard security challenge."

Maritime Security Awareness for "Other Personnel" (based on MTSA model course 04-03)

This five-hour course is designed to meet the training requirements established for vessel and facility personnel who do not normally have specific security duties, both in the MTSA implementing regulation, sections 104.225, 105.215, and 106.220 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, and in sections B13.3 and B18.2 of the ISPS Code. The courses provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to support their organization's security program effectively and fully meet the training requirements.

The courses offer a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, and accurate regulatory provisions, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment. The courses include relevant training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion. They will also be awarded .5 Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

NOTE: This course can be, and is more effective when, customized for your vessel, fleet, or facility by incorporating aspects of your operations and your security plan. These courses are also particularly effective when conducted in conjunction with a drill or "hard security challenge."

WARNING: The MTSA regulations require this kind of training for ALL vessel and facility personnel, INCLUDING not only full-time employees, but also contractors, and part-time and temporary employees.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Training

This three-hour course is designed to prepare vessel and facility personnel at all levels to carry out there responsibilities under the TWIC Program. It covers the relevant provisions the regulatory requirements for training as set forth in the Transportation Worker Identification Credential final rule. Topics include: card technology; security responsibilities for all levels; recognition of forged/altered TWICs; reporting requirements; lost/stolen card procedures; access control issues.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

MTSA/ISPS Code Auditing Course (for both ships and facilities)

This three-day course is designed to provide information on the requirements and process for the annual audits of Vessel/Ship and (Port) Facility Security Plans that are required by both MTSA regulations and the ISPS Code.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

Train the Trainer Course (based on IMO Model Course 6.09)

This five-day course is designed to prepare attendees to instruct on the subject of maritime security as reflected in the International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) Code and the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) and its implementing regulations. The course provides them with the basic skills, outlook, and knowledge to present maritime security instruction to industry personnel effectively.

Those who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
