Plans that were approved in the run up to the effective date (July 1, 2004) of the ISPS Code and the MTSA regulations were approved for a maximum of five years. They will need to be submitted for renewed approval before they expire. This requires validation or updating of the Security Assessment, as well as modifications of the Plan for changes in your physical plant or your operations and, in the US, incorporation of TWIC procedures. Periodic "internal" audits, reviews, and updating of maritime security plans are required by both the MTSA regulations and the ISPS Code.
