Vessel Security Officer (VSO)

This course, which has been approved by the US Coast Guard (USCG), prepares Mariners to perform the duties of a Vessel Security Officer effectively and provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as Vessel or Ship Security Officers. This three-day course fully satisfies the training requirements established in the MTSA implementation regulations, section 104.215 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, in section B13.2 of the ISPS Code, and in STCW Code section A-VI/5.

The course combines up-to-date threat information, accurate regulatory provisions, risk-based assessment techniques, and effective security practices. The course includes detailed training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations. The instructional methodologies used in the course include lectures, interactive activities, group exercises, multimedia presentations, and knowledge
assessment.

Successful completion of the course results in issuance to the individual of a USCG- approved, STCW-compliant certificate, as well as the award of 2.1 Continuing Education Units by Florida Institute of Technology.

We currently have combined courses scheduled for October 18-21 in Dania Beach, and December 6-9, 2011 in Boca Raton, Florida USA.
