This three-day course has been approved by the US Maritime Administration (MARAD) and is designed to prepare MTSA facility supervisory personnel to function effectively as Facility Security Officers. The course provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills for designation as a Facility Security Officer or Port Facility Security Officer and fully meets the training requirements established both in the MTSA implementing regulations, sections 105.205 and 106.210 of 33 Code of Federal Regulations, and in section B18.1 of the ISPS Code.
The course provides a blend of up-to-date threat information, effective security practices, accurate regulatory provisions, and risk-based assessment techniques, delivered through a balance of lectures, multimedia presentations, interactive activities, group exercises, and knowledge assessment. It includes detailed training on the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) regulations.
Those who successfully complete the course will receive a MARAD-approved certificate. Florida Institute of Technology will also award them 2.1 Continuing Education Units.
